GIGABYTE GTX 580 Super Overclock

Test Setup:
Today's test system consists of the hardware listed below, and as with all good testing a clean install is used and the latest Windows Updates are applied. The applications and games used in today's tests are the latest of what was available at the time of this analysis - links to demos and free trials are provided when applicable.


GIGABYTE's GTX 580 SOC (GV-N580SO-15I) features a default core clock of 855 MHz (772 MHz reference) and memory running at 2050 MHz (4100 MHz effective). Overclocking allowed us to increase the core to 986 MHz and memory to 2400 MHz (4800 MHz effective) without any memory voltage adjustments. For consistency we continued to use MSI's Afterburner software even though it didn't allow memory voltage adjustments like GIGABYTE's OC Guru did. So while more performance may be available higher memory clocks, we chose not to push the voltages as memory can be fairly sensitive to voltage increases.

Game Benchmarks:
We have compiled a list of popular and graphically challenging games which include titles utilising Microsoft's DirectX 9, 10 and 11 API's for testing today; tested in 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 resolutions that are most commonly used by gamers based on Steam's hardware survey.
