31/01/02: Hello and welcome to the last day of the month. I will archive each months folding news and start again with a clean News Page tomorrow. I have added a little stats gif showing the last seven days production for OCAU, [H] and oc.com. This will give you an idea on how we are going against the other teams. Which is not to good against the [H] guys and only just beating oc.com.
After a request from the forums this is a summary of our production and a prediction of what's to come. The prediction is based on an average for the past 7 days. Our newest Club members today are DaRaT and Shepete who join the rowdy mob over at the 50 Club. Spring Bay Online as we found out today is under the control of undertaker-tas welcome to the team undertaker. Another 9 new members to the Members Page so far today taking the total to 727. We have added 214 members in 25 days which is not bad going. I thought that it was about time our resident graphic guru had his own page here in the House of Folding. So The Darkness Gallery was created to show off his talents. I will add some more masterpieces soon.
30/01/02: I have redesigned the front page to make it more browser friendly and easier to read for the 800x600 mob. Incorporated a new Logo thanks to our graphic designer Darkness. More news to follow later on in the day. Added 23 new members to the Members Page and that makes 718 mad Folders in the Worlds Best Folding team. All the pages have been updated to suit 800x600 viewing. Club news involves a new member that goes under the Spring Bay Online name. His has only been Folding for a week and has already got a seat at the 100 Club bar. Well done and go visit the web site.
29/01/02: This little snippet is from Stanford about the next installment of the FAH client. Which will be of benefit for you multiple DC jugglers. Siraj here, Club news today is brought to you by X_phile who likes the idea of being in the 50 Club and TRiN reminded me of his 100 Club membership. So well done and happy clubbing to you both.
28/01/02: First up what an overwhelming response to the new address and Agg's front page write up with almost 500 hits for the day. If you have any issues with the layout ie using 800 x 600 or if you cant see any menus because you are not using IE don't worry I am aware of these and will attend to them shortly. Don't be shy in letting me know what you think and send in your suggestions and comments. Today's Folding Club news starts off with the addition of Mashee to the 100 Club, Mashee was a victim of the Forum crash and is reinstated to his rightful position. Also we have Radix joining the 100 Club and Spring Bay Online joining the 50 Club well done and enjoy your stay. This is a post from our rivals Forum see what you make of this. These are 2 day
numbers. What I see is 23 days of glory left before we relinquish our prime spot unless we do something about it. We have already started doing something with 11 new members today joining the fold and hopefully many more to come.
27/01/02: Welcome to our new address after a kind offer from Agg, I decided to have this page hosted by Overclockers Australia. Thanks Agg and that makes this the Official Overclockers Australia Folding Page. On to the news. Folding Club news today sees TeRoR jump up to the 100 Club and MoJoMaN joins the 50 Club well done guys. The hard charging [H] team are only 20,000 points behind now and on current production levels we will have only 20 days left to enjoy No1 status. So lets dig in and get them WU's flying. I have added some essential folding files that are available locally. Check the downloads tab in the menu.
26/01/02: Welcome to Australia Day. A few more site additions today which are a Overclockers Australia Top 20 Overall Points table and a Page Hits page. The Members Page has been updated with all new members and addition Club members. Also the Team Daily Stats page has been updated after my holiday and tomorrow I will update the Team Weekly Stats. A busy night for the Club scene last night with greebs continuing his massive output and reached the 1000 Club. Though it seems his run has come to an end now. Entering the 50 Club is Loser, Blimpyboy and Crusher. Congratulations and well done to you all. Seems like the new core_65 as become more accessible and so if you want to update your core and stop those horrible never ending core downloads here is Lombers guide. A new protein was released last night called a NativeBBA5 and is called Project 600. Its a quickie about the same speed as a bba5_build_ext but worth 1 point. So if you have noticed a slight increase in yours and everybody else's output thats why.
25/01/02: Just a couple of minor changes to the News page with a few folding Tips and a bit of scrolling text. This note was sent to us by Michael Shirts from the Folding@Home mob at Stanford just reminding us that each install of F@H has to have its own unique userid as distinct from username which can be the same on all your installs.. Hi, all you folders.
I'm in the Pande research group at Stanford, home of the
Here is the break down of ZGeeks, Atomicans and AusgGamers that have joined us since our call to arms a couple of weeks ago. Welcome to the team guys your contribution is most appreciated. AusGamers; BSS, CatTormentor , Maximus, natslovR, VRBones , Antisane, Palp, EDS ZGeek; plext, Fred Nerk, rickbishop, NextWish, Spingo, Buffalo, lujan, Tango Charlie, Sambo, Thingy Atomic; readerr0r, gazz, smega84, Mauz, Daggoth The Members Page has gotten fairly large so be patient while it downloads. Looks like I may have to do something about it. The FAQ has been updated by Stanford and is available locally here. Added a background to the News page and messed about with the title and menu a bit. Club news today sees greebs shoot up to the 500 Club and CatTormentor gains access to the 100 Club.
24/01/02: After yesterdays debarcle with the core_65. Stanford have made some behind the scenes changes and have released an undated core which Lombers has been fortunate to get and is version 2.41. This is the reply to my post at the Folding@Home news group. Earlier
today put up a new core that should solve the problems, and prevent any
further "download of death" problems. We patched the problem last night,
but a few machines might still have been affected - this new core should
fix the problems. If any downloading problems To download the new core_65 wait till you have finished a WU and received a new one. Delete the core_65 and queue.dat all the files in your Work directory and restart your folding. It should download a new core and WU. Only one snag so far after Lombers received the new core I have only been able to download the old one (version 2.34). I will let you know when it becomes available. I have finished off the Members Page additional information, so let me know if I have the details wrong or missed you out. The additional info as been attached to those members that have reach Club status. So you know what to do if you want your name to standout. Here is a tip from blimpyboy regarding wuresults that stay behind in your Work directory and arent deleted by the client after uploading the finished work. This is what FreeFrag was experiencing each time a WU uploads.
+Attempting to send results For some reason a few folks are effected by this so here is blimpyboys solution. lets
say the the name of your folding executable is fah2.exe . Thanks for that blimpyboy.
23/01/02: Well what a start to the day, first off server 111 and the assignment server were down for a few hours then core_65's started to get corrupted and repeatedly download a new one over and over then faulty WU's showed up in the guise of BBA5_N. Everything seems to have settled down now. So if you get a corrupted core_65 what you have to do is delete everything in you Folding@Home directory except for the FAHConsole.exe and your client.cfg and reinstall it. Its a pain I know but thats the only way to fix it. So keep an eye on your folding otherwise it will use up a lot of your bandwidth allowance and that could be costly. Good news on the Folding Clubs scene with greebs jumping into the 250 Club. Well done you have joined an exclusive club that only a few have reached so far. The Members Page is finished up to Z also I added a bit more information about club members.
22/01/02: Added a Fastest Folding Machine page with times from Foldmonitor, you will find it located under the Folding Clubs menu. Thanks goes out to Amran who organized the collection of times through the Forum. Talking about forums the ZGeek guys are getting right into this Folding business and the thread started there by Caveman is still going strong, check it out here. Welcome to the team and well done ZGeekers you contribution is greatly appreciated. Thanks to Teddy for letting us know that folding server 113 is finally up and accepting those nativevillins back. This should give us a bit of a stats boost today. Which will be needed since our nearest competitors the [H]ardOCP team are starting to gain rapidly. With the Members Page i'm up to S, phew.
21/01/02: Good morning and first up today we welcome tommy to the 50 Club. Added a few more features to the Members Page and updated up to the letter L, check it out its looking pretty flash now.
20/01/02:I have updated the Protein Page with new information and some return deadline times. Also add Team Weekly Stats, thanks to zero_g71 for the idea. Today's Club action involves natslovR joining the 50 Club, natslovR is a recent recruit from the AusGamer team who along with a lot of his team mates join forces with Overclockers Australia to make a united Australian assault on the worlds Folding scene. Well done and keep up the good work. If you are new to the team don't forget to enter your Folding fire power to the OCAU Boxen Database. Overclockers Australia currently has over 500GHz of Folding power with quite a few members not able or haven't submitted their boxen. Finally tonight i have added a How to Hide Folding@Home Using The Registry guide.
19/01/02:Well i'm back from my holidays and ready to throw more folding news and stats and Club info and whatever your way. So lets start with the Club information since its been a while since my last update. In to the 50 Club goes GenomersComeToSaveOurAss. In to the 100 Club goes Fred Nerk. In to the 1000 Club goes BSS Well done to all you guys and keep the WU's rolling in. Also I added a Service setup guide for WIN NT/2000/XP, thanks goes out to Lombers and Drayzen for this.
06/01/02:
Folding Club
news today sees
Scrappy move from the 50 Club to
the
100 club, well done Scrappy. We also
have the formation of another "super group" called the
GoonSquad. The GoonSquad have issued a challenge to the
GenomersComeToSaveOurAss team and that drags in
chestRcopRpot to a 3 way gauntlet to see who can produce the most
points. I suggest a race to 1000 points seeing that chestR is already on
330 points and is a single producer. Also welcome to all those members
from outside of OCAU such as
AusGamers,
atomic
,
ZGeek and
Wireplay enjoy your stay on the
Worlds Best Folding Team.
05/01/02:Yesterday the Overclockers Australia Folding team reached the 500th member milestone. The lucky person was Artful Player, welcome to you and all the other new members. Speaking of new members welcome to the Genoming mob that have got together to form a group to help out us Folders stay No1, your efforts are much appreciated.
Added today is a guide to Hiding F@H Console. and a Protein Page with information on all the proteins that we fold with process times from various computers. Update: Added Team Stats since we started version 2.
04/01/02:Added Foldmonitor Setup and badges to Folding Clubs, also added Members Page but its work in progress.
03/01/02: Added HTTP Proxy Setup and FAQ.
02/01/02: New improved site design. Added Clubs page.
