The Kaliban Factor Strikes Again: |
|
The big correction was been made to Kaliban's stats yesterday resulting in a negative score for the day and severely affecting our weekly output (not to mention stressing the Flogometer beyond its safe working limits, the Flogometer Deluxe PRO is just to expensive to buy atm. But once the Flogometer2 Ultra comes out it should make the superceded PRO more affordable). Anyway this has skewed the stats once again, and made the pending overtaking manoeuvre by oc.com seem somewhat close for comfort. This anomaly will wash out over the next week and then the true picture will emerge revealing a much longer time period before the unthinkable becomes a reality.

Wanted: |
|||||||||
|
l00b3r is looking for an adversary to gauntlet with and to the victor goes full bragging rights, if you meet these requirements apply within.
MM I want an adversary, pushing 250 -
270ppw sitting around 2000point atm, willing to annoy and tease me
until I lose... There has been a few nibbles in the thread already from jobaby and the teams youngest folder joannarose. There are a few more members around the 2000 points mark that produce approx 250 ppw, so come on and give l00b3r a right royal shellacking. If we get a few more takers I will add a section to the stats bar to keep track of the l00b3r Challenge. We could have check points along the way to make things a bit more interesting.

The DG and 200k: |

|
The worlds leading points scorer DGROMS.com (David) should pass the 200,000 points mark in the next few hours. That is a mighty effort and we all salute you DG.

Giveaway2: The awakening: |
|
Last year we had a very popular and successful Giveaway that resulted in the Overclockers Australia Folding team regaining the No1 team status (however short lived it was). It also brought about many a new member joining the cause and a lot are still folding today nearly 12 months later. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Overclockers Australia Folding Team I would like to present to you Giveaway2: The Awakening. The aim of this Giveaway is to recruit new members and to attract back to the Fold the thousands of ex-members that are currently inactive. Hence the Awakening title. This Giveaway being basically a recruitment drive is aimed at attracting new members and to also encourage existing members to spreading the word and introducing new members into the world of Folding@home. The Giveaway will be over 4 weeks and all you have to do to qualify for the prize draw each week is to be active (active from the time you nominate for the Giveaway) a number will then be allocated to you for that weeks draw. There will be a minor prize each week and in the 4th week there will be two major prizes. All numbers allocated will be eligible for the major draw. As an incentive to recruit new members a bonus number in the major prize draw will be given for each new active recruit that joins the team which has been referred by an existing member . I will start a new thread like last year asking for nominations to enter the Giveaway and if someone new joins the team they should name the existing member that referred them to the team and that person shall receive the bonus number. Each member of a subteam will be eligible to enter the Giveaway by nominating the team they fold for in the thread and the same rules apply to the subteam for recruiting new members. Also to those currently folding and active as of today they will receive a bonus number in the major draw. Details of the prizes will be announced shortly and it is anticipated that it will get underway in the next 2 weeks.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome in this thread in the forum.

l00b3r Challenge heats up: |
|
Poor old l00b3r was getting bored with his lot in folding and wanted to introduce some excitement in to those numbers that appear on the stats pages. So why not issues a challenge to any adversary that may want to take up the fight, five responded and the l00b3r Challenge was born. The initial 4 combatants were producing an average of 241 points a week each, today 9 days later the 6 are squeezing out an average of 384 points each and this little Gauntlet is raking in 2304 points a week between them. Poor l00b3r is finding the going hard and has dropped to 4th place but he has plans to change that, so watch out a wounded l00b3r is a dangerous one. Well done guys.

Flogometer goes GREEN: |
|
That's right folks the Flogometer is glowing green to signify that we out produced the oc guys yesterday. This was the first time since the 4th of February that we have legitimately had our noses in front for a day. So lets keep up the good work and make it two days in a row.

3 million Milestone: |
|
This morning we past the 3 million points milestone, well done everyone. Here are a few figures to ponder. 1st million points took 319 days 2nd million points took 133 days (41% shorter duration) 3rd million points took 58 days (43% shorter duration) If the same tend continues we should reach 4 million points in the next 25 days. as fxr91 said this morning "Onto the 4 mill now"

I have added a table of numbers to the Giveaway panel at the top of this page, they represent the number of members that have nominated and were active or inactive before the Giveaway was announced along with the new members that have joined us as well.

|
More Challenges: |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Blinky has issues a challenge to all those @home users to join him in a Gauntlet. The @home means members who fold with machines in their own home. So far Lithium and enigma1997 have taken up the challenge.
To
come and give me the beating I need, we only ask that you be limited
to your own boxen folding from home. Next we have Jobaby issuing a challenge to the Tori Lee team. l00b3r was too easy for jobaby and her newly acquired folding power so its time to hit the big league. b5lurker has accepted the challenge and its a mighty big one for Jo and her team who have a deficit of over 5500 to overcome. But with an increasing output they should start taking big chunks out of the lead Team Tori has.

Just where are those winners from last years Giveaway? are they still folding or have they just taken the prizes and disappeared?

Giveaway2: |

Bonkers has really taken to getting the bonus numbers for referring new members and has accumulated 4 referring bonuses and one active bonus giving him 5 chances at winning the big prizes. With the subteams each team needs to submit at least one WU for each nominated person for the week to be eligible for the weekly draw.
|
|
What have you done for the Folding team today: |
|
Lombers has started a thread wanting to know what you have done to further the folding cause for the team. Well I can speak for Bonkers here, he has got four new members folding.

plext hits 200k: |

Well done plext on reaching the 200,000 points milestone. Here is a quote from the first person to achieve this feat, DGROMS.com... My congratulations go to plext on 200K F@H points. The second man get past 200K and the one who scared me to get there first, and continues to keep me on my feet. Check out the thread here

Assignment server down yesterday: |
|
You may have noticed that the Stanford stats didn't move for a few hours yesterday afternoon and that the Gromac proteins stopped flowing for a while to. This is the reason why.... I found that the
assignment server has been down for a while. Because we have
secondary assignment server, things should have been all right. But
for advanced Gromacs users, it must have appeared that they couldn't
get to Gromacs servers. That's because all Gromacs servers were
listed on the primary AS only. I am now

Giveaway2: |
|
Giveaway2 is under way and the first round of eligible members is up, current to 16:00 WST. So far 96 members have obtained their number in this weeks draw. There are still quite a few people who have nominated for the draw last week who still haven't registered a score on the Stanford stats pages. Make sure you have got the correct team number (24) in your client.cfg and hopefully in the next few days we will see a few of those new members with a score against their name.

Flogometer Upgrade : |
|
Thanks the the efficient workers at the ACME Electric Factory No2 we now have the FLOGOMETER Deluxe PRO, it was shipped by sea and arrived this morning in 2 crates at Fremantle after a quick 14 day journey by container ship. Hot of the presses and ready to roll, new front end features include a 7 day history of "Day" winners and an extra LED on the right side taking the capacity up to 7000 points. Phew those guys at the No2 factory sure do know how to build these Flogometers and it rightly deserves the PRO tag.

Giveaway2: |
|
We had a rush of new nominations yesterday after Agg put up the News item on the front page, thanks Agg. So far we have had 354 members nominate and of those 258 are eagerly awaiting next Mondays draw with their number safely tucked away. Crikeymoses asked a question concerning the whereabouts of his number for this week. I explained that because he is in a subteam of five members the team has to produce 5 WU's, one for each nomination. Bonkers is in the same boat with 5 members but so far his team is MIA with no returned WU's this week. Just a reminder for everyone if you miss a week by not submitting the required number of WU's for you or your team you become ineligible for the grand prize, and we don't want that do we. To be eligible for the final draw you must have been active for the previous 4 weeks of the Giveaway (submitted at least 1 WU for each week and for subteams at least 1 WU per member for each week) or if you started later you must have been active from the first week of your nomination.

Flogometer still green : |
|
The 4th day in a row now that the Flogometer has been green and we are on target for a 5th day. Usually we drop off on the weekend when plext's machines are switched off for two days, so its up to us to help fill the gap till Monday and keep the Flogometer green and make it seven days in a row.

Statsman AWOL again: |
|
Statsman seems to be having trouble again so no updates for the Folding clubs today. If you are after a quick stats fix have a look at these two page from the mob at Extreme Overclocking. This one is a biggy but worth the wait and this one is very interesting and gives milestones achievements and new members and heaps of other stats as well, like the one below. I have added the links to the stats section on the left.

Stanford Power Outage: |
|
As I write this we are in the middle of the scheduled power outage at Stanford. It should last approximately 20 hrs until early tomorrow morning if things go as planned. Vijay and the gang must have some servers setup to receive the completed WU's but not issue new ones. Here is the latest post from Vijay... ok, F@H is now
mostly down. We're going to keep the data servers going as long as
we can, but the AS, web, stats, and most everything else are down
right now. Here is the associated thread in our forums.

Server outage and stats : |
|
There has been another spate of server outages the latest being last night. Which has resulted in the last 2 Statsman updates being on the small side for all concerned. This has caused one thing that I think is worth mentioning and that is we beat the [H]orde for the last 24 Hrs, this is the first time since the 5th of July last year that we have out produced them for a 24hr period. No doubt when the servers come back online and all the outstanding WU's are returned things will get back to normal, but its good to be able to brag about this little anomaly for a while and it does show we aren't that far behind them and just a few more members and we can start to eat in to that lead they have.
