I'm back: the holiday is over ...
My trip up the coast with the wife is over and five days at Kalbarri have come to an end. It was nice to have time to relax and see the sights but as usual I had to have a stats update and see what you lot were up to. So I popped into the one of the shops that had internet access for us tourist types, the one that I chose was Kalbarri Book Exchange and Internet. After a few minutes there I was talking to the owner Steve about Folding@Home and that his 5 machines were perfect candidates and would he like to give it a go. Here is the stats page stats for Kalbarri Book Exchange, he said yes. If you are on holiday in WA's midwest call into Kalbarri and say hello to Steve he will make you most welcome after all he is a fellow folder now.

BTW : that's not me in the picture.

Folding of another kind: the DF guys need our help...

The Distributed Folding project is about to wind up at the end of the month with the OCAU team currently in 5th place. There is one problem the TOO XTREME team has rallied and is trying to knock our guys out of 5th place. So the call to arms has been made in the forums and they need our help.

as you may have known, DF is finishing in roughly 3-4 weeks, but XtremeSystems have decided to move all their resources from all other projects onto DF, on a mission to take OCAUs place on the ladder before the project finishes.

This is a cry for help to all those doing F@H and other projects to consider moving a few boxen over to DF, please!!  cant let those phase change crazy americans/europeans steal the place from us weeks (or maybe days) before the end of the project

Download is
here

Instructions are in readme1st.txt inside the archive, reasonably easy to set up.

Please help!!!!

If you can spare a machine or two for a couple of weeks to help the DF guys out it would be greatly appreciated. The stats page here says that the DF team will be swamped in 5 days time so we need to get behind them quickly. Have a read of the thread in the forums for all the information you need to help out and lets keep our team up there. BTW the DF team have a subteam (Team DF Erect Vicar) Folding for us and as soon as this is over the DF guys will be back Folding like mad keeping the FAH Vicar fully erect.

Update: Here is a preconfigured file that contains everything you need to start DFing in a hurry. Just download and unzip it and then double click foldit batch file and you will be up and running under the DF Vicar name.

Folding of another kind: the threat draws nearer...

Thanks for the great response to help the DF team out in the final days of the Distributed Folding project in its current phase. But the threat posed by the TOO XTREME team has draw a lot closer by the influx of ex members into the team, bringing their points with them (DF points are transferable from team to team, they stay with the username). So we are going to need quite a few more troops to rally for the final sprint to the line. If we could get at least another 100 machines DFing for the Vicar we might just hold them at bay. So if you can help out download this file and unzip it, then run it from unzipped folder. You can monitor and control the DF client by using dfgui. It can control the starting and stop of the DF client and add in the extra flags that are need to make it invisible and fold fast by using extra RAM. If you need any help pop in the this thread in the forums and ask away.

A Linux version is here.

Come on guys lets have some fun and put the might of the Overclockers Australia Folding@Home team behind the DF team and kick some butt in their hour of need.

Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duty, and so bear ourselves that, if the Overclockers Folding Team lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, `This was their finest hourī

eBay: a nice return ...

The three items that we up for sale on eBay have returned a combined total of $77. A big thanks to eltoro2003 for donating the SATA controller. If anyone would like to do similar all you need to do is send me a photo and a description and I will list on eBay, then when the item is won and the money is in the bank you send it of to the winner. I will put up some more stuff later in the week.

More FBOXes: FBOX 25 and FBOX 26 join the Fold...

Two more FBOXes have been added to the family this week. They both have new Celeron 2.6GHz (400 FSB) CPU's. The FFF is looking a bit empty after kitting out these two machines. The ebay items are helping fill it up again slowly, if you have a spare $10 it will help build it up a bit quicker, PM me for the account details if you would like to help out and go into the draw for the next BYO FBOX. For future FBOX builds we have three motherboards looking for CPU's, we need two Palomino XP's and a socket 423 Pentium 4 CPU if anyone has any of these spare let me know in this thread. Or if you have a spare motherboard that would be suitable for a FBOX or any other bits let me know to.
