As promised, the Curiosity Show now has their episodes on YouTube. The international television program Curiosity Show was produced in Australia for young people. Presented by Deane Hutton and Rob Morrison, it emphasized science, technology and things to make and do.

Internode have a new ad in Klingon. This advert presents an Internode signup offer in the Star Trek language of Klingon. The advert is screening during science fiction TV shows on selected television networks during Internode's Geekiest Promo in the Universe campaign.

If you're in Parramatta, NSW, you can now enjoy 30 minutes a day of free "5G" WiFi. Residents and visitors in Parramatta, NSW will be able to surf the Internet for free at speeds up to 100Mbps with the launch of a new "5G" fixed wireless network using the super-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard. The outdoor network runs through Church Street, from Riverside Theatre to Westfield shopping centre, and also covers some parts of Macquarie Street and the Parramatta River area.

NBN Co's boss Mike Quigley has quit. NBN Co chief executive Mike Quigley is quitting as head of the company building the national broadband network, following months of speculation that his board was preparing to sack him. Mr Quigley announced on Friday that he would retire from corporate life after four years in charge. His resignation comes only months after he signed a new three-year contract with the NBN Co.

Google have released details about what the Australian Government has asked them to delete from their web index. We received a request from a local transportation agency to remove 119 YouTube videos for using a protected trademark without permission. We removed the videos. More worldwide info here.

The Australian Internet Governance Forum has announced their internet ambassadors for 2013. John Selby, long-time friend of OCAU, has been selected. The auIGF, an initiative of the .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA), is Australia’s premier annual forum for independent thought leadership on Internet-based policy and practice issues. In a world of increasing complexity regarding the quest for openness vs privacy, and between individual rights vs national security, the auIGF is apolitical and open.

The EFF meanwhile have been allowed to take the NSA to court over their mass spying claims. A federal judge today rejected the U.S. government's latest attempt to dismiss the Electronic Frontier Foundation's (EFF's) long-running challenge to the government's illegal dragnet surveillance programs. Today's ruling means the allegations at the heart of the Jewel case move forward under the supervision of a public federal court.

NZ has its own share of tech politics drama, with the PM and Kim Dotcom locking horns at a parliamentary hearing. Mr Key was forced to apologise to Mr Dotcom last year after it was revealed his government's spy agency, the Government Communications Security Bureau, had illegally tapped Mr Dotcom's communications. The founder of Megaupload said he wanted to appear before the committee to ensure that no other New Zealander has to undergo the abuses he has suffered. Video here, thanks |Renegade|.

It turns out phone and GPS jammers are illegal and being seized. Nearly 100 items have been seized from international shipments since the start of the year. ACMA had previously singled out the devices as a priority area for compliance over 2012-13. The operation, possession or supply of the illegal devices could result in jail time of up to two years, and penalties of up to $255,000 for companies.

OCAU member SuperRoach is working on a homebrew quadcopter camera. Based on the Crazyflie Nano quadcopter, I have added a Camera and small transmitter to it. The added components weigh 1.6gm! This is a look at the work done so far on enabling it to carry a Camera and transmit it back to a TV or computer to record and view.
