Looks like Microsoft have taken another stab at making tablets, they've recently held a press event revealing the new Surface 2 and Surface 2 Pro products in New York. Microsoft says that Surface 2 and Surface 2 Pro both benefit from "significant updates." Among them are improvements to processing power, better battery life, display and camera resolution upgrades, and a niftier Kickstand that now sports dual angles, making it more comfortable to use on your lap or desk.

AMD have also unveiled their new GPU family - The R5, R7 and R9. Specs on the new cards are still limited, but we know that the highest-end R9 290X is a six-billion transistor GPU with more than 300GB/s of memory bandwidth and prominent support for 4K gaming.

A new (fake) advert has been released for the iOS7 has been making the rounds, claiming it makes your phone waterproof.“Update to iOS 7 and become waterproof” claims the ad (see below) explaining that “In an emergency, a smart-switch will shut off the phone’s power supply and corresponding components to prevent any damage to your iPhone’s delicate circuitry.”

Steam is going to be giving away 300 of their new living room entertainment "Steam Machine" prototypes to their users. To qualify for the early prototype, Steam users must complete Valve's "eligibility quest." That involves joining the Steam Universe community group; agreeing to the company's hardware beta terms and conditions; having or making at least 10 friends on Steam; creating a public Steam Community profile; and, lastly, playing a game with a gamepad using Steam's Big Picture mode.

Google's upgraded their search privacy, however they've left the same loopholes for advertisers. What's not to like with that? Chiefly, a loophole Google has left in for its advertisers and a lost opportunity to get all sites to go secure.

China's unblocking Facebook, Twitter and the New York Times in certain locations, called "Free Trade Zones". The idea of unblocking websites in the FTZ was to make foreigners "feel like at home", the South China Morning Post quoted a government source as saying. "If they can't get onto Facebook or read the New York Times, they may naturally wonder how special the free-trade zone is compared with the rest of China," the source said.
