In one of the most amazingly bizarre stunts ever, Elon Musk's SpaceX have launched their Falcon Heavy rocket, the most powerful since the Space Shuttle, placing a payload into an orbit which will ultimately send it to Mars. The payload? Elon's red Tesla Roadster with "Starman", a dummy in a space suit, in the driving seat. For this experimental and uncertain mission, however, he decided on a much smaller and whimsical payload - his old cherry-red Tesla sports car. A space-suited mannequin was strapped in the driver's seat, and the radio set to play David Bowie's classic hit Space Oddity on a loop.
You can even view a live stream of Starman and the Roadster orbiting the Earth. Of course. :) Discussion continues in this thread.
