The weekend is almost upon us again, so here is some news to help get you there...

You can find and article all about upgrading systems based on socket 423/478 platforms over at Sudhian.

A lot of people have sent in this piece of news. "GeForce FX canned? Nvidia refuses to comment". Truth or rumour? I don't know.

The people at BiT-Tech have had a play with a Prometeia. Part #1 of the review has been posted.

A1 Electronics have posted a quick preview of DDR-II memory. I expect that it will still be some time before we see any on the local shop shelves but I am looking forward to seeing it in action.

If you are thinking about getting your MCSE Certification, Viper Lair have an article titled What Does A MCSE Certification Get You?. This might be worth a read before you put your money on the table.

There is a short interview with John Carmack over on Beyond3D.

Hard disk drives that can hold terabytes of data might not be very far away if this technology has any say in it. Although as Comit puts it, "Personally I hope we're rid of mechanical storage before we get that far though".

This from Andrew, "There is an article up on the IEEE website regarding leaking capacitors found on many motherboards. Part of the apparent cause is an error in the formula (stolen Intellectual Property) for the electrolyte used". Read the full article here.

Our own networking guru, NBK, has built himself a solar powered wireless bridge project, connecting a Cisco wireless bridge to relay a signal. It looks like a lot of thought went into putting this together. Well done.

3DMark 2003 is due for release some time in the next month or two. BlargOC have several screenshots for you to preview.

K@OS tells us that version 6 of Ad-Aware has been released. If you don't use Ad-Aware or you don't know what it is, then you really should head on over and check it out. Its the best anti-spyware tool around and its free.

F1DarkFlash found a handy utility called GSpot. It will scan your video files and tell you which version of which codec they are encoded with. It seems to do the job well for me and its also "free for personal use".
