Intel may be taking a very long road for the production of 64-bit PC chips as reported on c|net @ News.com. Intel President Paul Otellini, said in an interview that Intel may not be compelled to produce a 64-bit desktop chip until 2008 or even 2009. This had something to do with lack of applications, existing circumstances in the memory market, and the inherent challenges in getting the industry and consumers to migrate to new chip. Great Read.
The Inquirer reports that the R350 will be named Radeon 9800 PRO with a non-pro version be released as well. The inquirer also reports that the fastest version Radeon 9800 PRO should be 40 percent faster than a Radeon 9700 PRO. Cards should hit the retail in April leaving Nvidia very little time to have the fastest product. Apparently the 9900 label will be reserved for 256Mb.
Also reported on the Inquirer is that Intel will be keeping Centrino branding to itself in its new mobile chips . Basically what this means is that unless a notebook uses the full Intel chipset and Pentium M processor combination, it can't be called Centrino.
