Interesting article here which has some info on the efforts that AMD and Intel have gone to in order to get 1GHz parts out. Voltage boosts, stockpiling the best cores, enhanced cooling.. sound familiar? All this would probably indicate less headroom for overclocking, which has been the case for the high-spec parts.
