XL-R8R (0 Comments) (link)
 Tuesday, 26-September-2000  09:49:27 (GMT +10) - by Agg

Madonion.com, makers of the excellent 3DMark2000 benchmark, have made a new program called XL-R8R. It's a pretty big download (15.5MB) so I've not had a chance to look at it yet. It supposedly analyses your PC and tells you which bits are the bottleneck. Here's some of their blurb about it:

MadOnion.com has developed XL-R8R with you in mind – You’re interested in exploring the world of PC’s, and want to know more about all of its internal components (everything from the Drive Bay to the CPU), as well as what can be added (those new DVD Drives, CD-ROM’s, etc…) to improve your PC experience. You have been wondering if there is anything that you can do to improve the way your applications run…and you’ve come to the right place and you should download and run XL-R8R Now!

In addition to a spectacular sound and light show you experience when you run this software, XL-R8R offers you a whole host of services, to make your travels through the world of computers more comprehensible.

Some people in IRC were saying it looks/sounds great and judging from the eye-candy in 3DMark2000 it should be pretty cool as a showoff demo.

I've made a mirror of the download here on Odin, so Australian users should get it a bit quicker. International readers, please download it from MadOnion directly, the bandwidth out of Australia is swamped enough with Olympic traffic.. thanks!
