I can't believe it's December already. Nearly a year since the whole Y2K thing.. I wonder if the parties for the REAL beginning of the Millennium will be as big, or has everyone forgotten about that now. :)

BTW, November stats for OCAU: 1,309,499 pages served to 281,317 visitors, totalling 56GB of outbound web traffic. For pageviews, this is 30% growth from last month. Thanks guys!

Interesting thing on TheRegister about AMD's rumoured 1.7GHz Athlon product, and how much a heatmonster it's going to be.

Guru3D have some info on their page (scroll down) confirming that KT7-RAID and 3D Prophet II Pro is an unworkable combination.

InsaneHardware have some info on that Abit Beowulf cluster we saw a while ago. IH have an 11MB powerpoint presentation that looks like it might be an interesting read - covering SMP, parallel computing etc. I imagine it's oriented towards their products, but I'm going to print out a copy so I have something to read during the next thunderstorm here. :)

Sharky have a guide to installing video cards.

SysReview have a guide to setting up a LAN..

ProCooling have some watercooled Duron action.

Hexus have a Elsa GeForce Shootout posted. Scarily enough, they seem to really believe the NVIDIA marketing machine's claim that graphics were totally crap before the "GPU" was invented. That firetruck-image comparison is just ludicrous..

Some caveats about buying P4 systems on GeekNews .. like as if there weren't enough reasons to stay away from P4 for the moment anyway. Their "comments" thread rapidly degenerates into an "Who can say 'Intel Sucks!' the most" contest. :)

APU's checked out a GeForce 2 Pro card from OCZ.

HotHardware reviewed the Enermax 451 PSU. We have a review of this unit and of course the 651 model coming soon..

Dan has reviewed 2 portable MP3 players - one here from Iomega and one here from Samsung.

Simon sent word of a possible issue with Asus's iPanel. Apparently the monitoring causes some stuttering in games. He argues that, since MBM can monitor the same hardware without causing stuttering, there must be some fault with the iPanel. More info in this thread in our CUSL2 forum and some here in CUSL2.com's forum. I'll add to this by saying that MBM *DOES* cause stuttering on my A7V - I have to disable MBM for 3DMark2000 runs or it is noticeably jerky. So maybe it's something to do with the monitoring H/W Asus are putting on these motherboards? I have asked my Asus contact to look into this, and also there is an iPanel on the way to me for review, so I will be able to see it for myself (and whinge about it in the review) soon..
