Wednesday evening... Part 1. (0 Comments) (link)
 Thursday, 21-December-2000  00:06:37 (GMT +10) - by Sciby

Evening all...

HardAvenue has updated their Value & Performance Buyer's Guide, for a change from most "buyer's guides" they give you options in each section.

It seems Saddam wants to have a go of Ridge Racer V, 'cause he's bought 4000 Playstation 2's. Apparently Japan restricted exporting the PS2 because of their processing power, and clustered together, they have to power to guide big nasty rockets to their targets. And the Iraqi's can play Gran Turismo while they're waiting. Another article here. Thanks to Morgan and... er... Agg. :)

Tech Extreme, owners of the most scariest looking Santa, have interviewed Brian Burke, regarding the Nvidia-3dfx dealings. It seems some "world class engineers" have crossed over to the other side as well. As you do.

TweakTown has been looking at 3dfx Motion Blur, still in it's early stages, it's all part of the scientific-sounding "T-buffer". Interesting screenshots, but probably way more realistic in real life I'm guessing. :)

Chick's Hardware has modded a Pioneer DVD, so you can see the cd spinning. Interesting. Even more interesting that modding a dvd seems to involve the eating of a tin of peanuts. End product looks good (the drive, not the eaten peanuts). If you're going to do this, put some wood under the top bit when you're drilling a pilot hole, you won't get the bendies. :)

Well, Heath Birchfield has been frustrated, and now he's finally snapped, after not being able to find A7V bios' and drivers whenever he wanted, so he's started his own "mini-website" with all the files you need. Pretty comprehensive.

According to OC Workbench ECS will soon produce "dual" memory motherboards, capable of supporting DDR and SDR dimms on the one board, article halfway down the page. Doesn't say if both memory types will be able to run together, but somehow I doubt it.

Until this moment, I thought that Santa was real and loves me enough to give me things I don't need. And underwear. Lots of underwear. Not a page for the kiddies who still believe. *sobs quietly and starts singing "Cat's in the Cradle"*

"Da Beast" is Tech-Planet's answer to... well, every single other paint-stripping, cow-killing, wish-list article ever written. The page is a nice shade of blue though.

OCInside has finished a rather large comparo of lots of heatinks. It even includes sound bites of the fans in action! German site, but in english.
