A few people emailed me links to articles about how to remove the ads from ICQ today. I'm not posting them for a few reasons. Firstly, we're a hardware site not a Cr4kz0r site. Secondly, removing the ads is of dubious legality (obtaining goods/services via fraud..? hmm). Mostly though, I'm not posting them because they represent the "gimme everything for free" attitude that is slowly killing the net. If you like using ICQ and enjoy using the service, how does it hurt you to have an ad appear occasionally? What does it cost you except a few seconds of your time? Would you prefer if they made it a paid-subscriber service only? Someone's got to pay for the traffic, the support, the servers.. why shouldn't it be advertisers?
