I got this (in a roundabout way) from Asus today:

Subject: PCB damaged by heatsink clip

Dear all,

ASUS is in the process of doing some protection on some MB models to resolve
the problem of, PCB is easy been scratched when install the heatsink chip.
Please see below for your information.

I wonder how this will affect warranty claims on existing motherboards that have been damaged by CPU heatsink clips. Previously, ASUS have not been exchanging boards that are damaged in this way. If they are now redesigning motherboards, does that imply they admit the previous designs are flawed?
