Icrontic.com raided (0 Comments) (link)
 Sunday, 25-March-2001  09:07:23 (GMT +10) - by Agg

This is bizarre. Go read Icrontic.com, in particular the news post "A Major Turn Of Events", from which I quote:

We went back to a buddies of my house around 6PM EST, and I called my house. Please note I'm 16 years old. I told my mom I was over here, and she informed me that several armed FDLE agents raided my house today and seized all of my computers. I was stunned. I am being prosecuted on Communcations Fraud and Offenses Against Computer Users. This is a third degree felony, which means I could face a lot of jailtime and never see the likes of a computer again.

More info in this thread in their forums. Their local newspaper website has a story about the lawsuit.

I dunno, I'm all for freedom of speech and I do think this is an overreaction.. but he did something illegal, he confessed and documented it - it's hard to confirm without reading the article but some say it was inciting others to do the same - and if he really cost the ISP in question money then they're entitled to reclaim it I guess. Still, agents raiding a kid's house because of his website is a scary thought.
