I dunno, the new X-Files is just.. kinda annoying. The "maybe it's something supernatural", "oh no, it couldn't be that", "but what other option is there?" banter is so tiresome now.. Scully's (sudden) role reversal is completely implausible and Doggett is like a big drawling lump of wood that's been everywhere and done everything. Even the irony of tonight's episode, with Robert Patrick (ex-T1000) chasing a metal-memory man around, saying "But that only happens in movies!" was really contrived. Bah. Dunno why I bother watching TV sometimes. :)

Maybe I'm just grumpy because of the stupid problems I'm having with my A7V. It seems that the southbridge IDE ports (ie, the normal motherboard ones) are corrupting data something chronic. Flashing to a newer bios (thanks Pace) seems to have fixed it, but all the CD's I've burned recently have got data errors on them. Now the machine is pausing for a few seconds every couple of minutes or so, seems to be something to do with the new BIOS so I'll fiddle with settings later. Now I've been told that BIOSes previous to 1003 are best. Argh! Don't mind me ranting. :)

VooDoo pointed out this interesting thread started by John Gatt from VIA. He is trying to help Creative and VIA get a fix happening for a conflict between VIA chipsets and SBLive! sound cards. If you're having the problems described, add your info and maybe we can get it resolved. Hell, it might even explain my A7V problems at the moment!

Klif had a bit of a go with a circle cutting drill press.. not a resounding success but an interesting way to make a hole..

VIAHW have a utility to enable 4-way interleave on a variety of VIA-chipset motherboards.

About a zillion (rounded up) people have sent me the "Pretend to be a Jedi in the census!" thing but I have steadfastly refused to post it, for a variety of reasons.. here's a really good reason not to do it, in the form of a $1000 fine for knowingly providing false information on a census, thanks Dan.

Win stuff! GlacierII coolers here on SystemLogic, some more heatsinks here on LWD, and a HEAP of cool stuff here in this Australians-only (gotta love it) competition on CaseJunkiez.
