Wednesday Morning (0 Comments) (link)
 Wednesday, 11-April-2001  10:09:12 (GMT +10) - by alchemy

Pretty quiet this morning, but some of it is ok.. so here it is.

First up is the Germans.. they're not too happy with people running Neo-Nazi websites so they've done what any good script kiddie would do and threaten to smurf (Denial of Service attack) them. Seriously.. bloody idiots.

TweakTown has crawled out of the rock they've been living under and reviewed the Pentium 4 1.5GHz Reference System that Intel's been doing the rounds with since the CPU's release.

I'm not sure if this has already been done or not, but anyway.. StorageReview have a review of the new IBM 60GXP.. successor to the 75GXP. What's the difference you ask? The new one has 20Gb platters.. and thats about it. Performs about-the-same-if-not-a-little-better than the 75GXP which is good. Thing that caught my attention tho is that you can get it in a 10Gb model.. now if they're using 20Gb platters, does this mean that there is 10Gb of space just sitting there not being accessed? Maybe there could be a way around that.. *maybe*

Alltechbox have a thoughtful article about static electricity and how it has the potential to fry your hardware. Whilst this is something most computer businesses pay alot of attention to.. I've built half a dozen computer standing on carpet and not had a problem.. I've not even heard of anyone frying anything due to static. So maybe take it with a grain of salt.. can never be too careful with exxy hardware tho :)

One of our Forum Mods, Danthemanz is holding a LAN at Frenches Forrest, Sydney on 28th of April. He's told me there'll be a lucky door prize.. so even you people playing cs with a keyboard might win something!

ClubOverclocker has reviewed the DigiDoc5.. our review is here, maybe you can pit them together in a fight for to the death? Or maybe I just need more sleep.

Digit-Life has posted their Video Card digest for March 2001.. and I tell you, a *lot* of stuff happened in March..

GideonTech has reviewed the CVChill Socket CPU Cooler.. shiny silver thing looking alot like an Alpha HS/F with a Delta 7k fan screwed onto it. Comes with a Socket-A shim as well, which I reckon is a neat idea.. maybe they should release a version that comes with an 80 or 92mm fan as well? I don't like 7k fan noise..

Speaking of Alpha, CaseJunkiez have reviewed some Alpha RAMsinks, and they reckon that they're dam good. Problem is that you can't source them through any retail channels in au atm.. MOS *did* sell them, but now only in wholesale quantities. Maybe I can smell a group purchase comming on? nahhhhr..

Eurogamer have taken a look at a T-Bird 1.33GHz processor.. and I can't hear them singing A-X-I-A along to the village people yet. Give them time..

Now this one sound's pretty interesting.. RaedonInc are running a competition to give away a Socket-A Multiplier Device thing-o.. It's basically a small device that sits between the socket and your processor, and will give mult adjustment to a board that dosn't have it built in.. might be just the thing to update an old KT133 MOBO lacking the feature..

Finally today, we have some PORN for you.. yes you heard correctly, free pr0n!! of the geek variety of course.. hope it dosn't get you too excited teehehe..
