From Chris: If you own a Sony CDU5211 CD Rom (the 52x cd rom), your CDs are only being read at 40x most of the time...according to the sony website, you have to hold in the eject button for 5 seconds, and it'll then read at 52x...this is hard to do, seeing as the CD ejects most of the time when your trying to enable 52x...what i've found easiest to do is hold in the eject button for a random amount of time thats over 5 seconds, and then let go...the read light should flash 2 times. Found in the online user manual (need adobe acrobat).
