Late Saturday evening (0 Comments) (link)

Sorry that it's been so long since the last news post - I'll make up for it though, and make this one *really* big, OK?
Update: I'll be splitting the news up into a post tonight, and a post tomorrow morning. There's simply too much to put it all in one post - I'm tired, and I have the second day of my cricket semi-final tomorrow - and I need sleep...

Digitalis wrote in to let us know that Microsoft are getting close to releasing Service Pack 3 for Windows 2000. In fact, there are some sites offering SP3 Release Candidate 3.51 (basically a beta) for download. Please note that the site linked to just then is *not* an official Microsoft distribution site, and Overclockers Australia are *not* responsible for anything that may happen to your PC should you choose to download the SP3 file - it's beta, and it's an unofficial download site - you take your own chances.

Feek pointed out that it seems that supercooling and overclocking is reaching the "mainstream" market - well, at least you'd be excused for thinking so, after seeing this article about a 3GHz Vapochill PC on the BBC News website.

Mothug sent us in this information on x-bit labs about Abit's upcoming KT333 based motherboard. There's a decided lack of PCI slots - and lots of integrated components. I personally wouldn't buy a board like this, but I guess time will tell how the market receives this sort of product.

If I were to tell you that the desk your PC is sitting on right now could be used as a giant speaker, you'd probably think I was off my tree. You'd be wrong, apparently. Thanks to both Josh and Sphinx for sending us the link.

There's a couple of rather interesting PCDB entries that have been spotted recently - this clear case, this rather heavily modded system, and if anyone can explain to me what this is supposed to be, I'll sleep easier at night. Or at least my curiosity will be satisfied. Of course, you've all got entries in the PCDB, don't you?

Dan's had a look at some rather impressive Altec Lansing Select 641 speakers. Computer speakers that don't, apparently, suck.

Overclockers New Zealand have grabbed a whole bunch of GeForce 4 MX video cards, and done a big comparison between them.

ICEHardware are looking for a slogan. And they're willing to give away a rather nice backlit graphical LCD to the person who comes up with the best slogan. Sounds quite reasonable, so put your thinking caps on, and see what you can come up with!
