Probably about time I did some news.. btw, hitwise let us know that, as well as ranking #1 for "Computers and Internet - Hardware", overclockers.com.au ranked #4 in the News and Media - IT Media category.. yay us.

Strat spotted this all-in-one box.. The following systems are installed in the Boxx: Atari 2600, Nintendo Entertainment System (8-bit), Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, Sony PlayStation 2, a custom PC.

g@z has an extremely shiny PC, while moto's uses an unusual waterblock mount and lives in a massive case.

Speaking of fancy case-mods, Hexus have part 3 of their project black ice posted.

Digit-Life have been playing with professional graphics adapters, comparing the ATI FireGL 8800 against NVIDIA Quadro 4 in 3DS Max.

Wild notes: When you linked to the page saying Darwin has been ported to x86 processors, that's true. You can even download Darwin and run it on your x86 processor. BUT - Darwin is only the underlying unix OS behind OS X - you do not get OS X's functionality or interface, but rather a version of BSD unix. .. fair enuff.

Ninsei has more info about AMD phasing out Duron from their processor line.

Pete has info related to our previous post about the "Nullsoft Installer" seemingly targeted by anti-spyware programs: this is more than likely due to the fact that there is such a product as "nullsoft installer", or as it is more commonly known "Nullsoft SuperPiMP Install System" and is made by those same guys as who make winamp. I'll wager to guess that the reason it uses this is it's free, and you can run cmd line stuff from within the installer. So whatever this fix does, the "installer" runs/does the fix, rather than actually installing something.

Apparently Optus ADSL looms ever closer, thanks Josh.. more info and comments here on Whirlpool.

For the newbies: PCStats have a hard-drive installation guide.

The -NRK- lads have a pc tuning guide that involves a steak knife and the kitchen sink.

Regarding the planetary alignment I posted on Friday, kermit says about the 4 brightest planets making a line across the sky unfortunately we here in australia (at least in melbourne) can only see little bits of it because the line crosses our sky during the day .. thingy adds: Only _just_ applies to the southern hemisphere. Read up on it (no source available) a few weeks ago. Great view from northern hemisphere, but it's only viewable at sunset in a north-westerly direction at a very low altitude, so there's a VERY small gap between when the sun might be low enough, and when they dissapear over the horizon. Bummer.

On the 4th and 5th of may there's a LAN in Far North Queensland.. and you can win a new product from ThrustMaster: The Tactical Board has not been released anywhere in the world yet. We are the first to have it and some lucky punk is gonna win it.

Jackson spotted this thread on another forum which details (at some length!) a watercooling system.. including a very cool "twister" bong cooler thing.. check it out, but you'll need the comfy chair.
