Fury, the Australian-created MMORPG, is reportedly free to play.. either today only or from today on, I'm not sure. Anyway, more info here, discussion thread here.
It seems Terry Pratchett, creator of the Discworld series of novels etc, has been diagnosed with a rare form of early onset Alzheimer's. :( We are taking it fairly philosophically down here and possibly with a mild optimism.
Anandtech have a 1000W PSU roundup. We conduct tests in two different temperature environments. One is normal room temperature of 25-26°C, while the second environment goes from room temperature and increases steadily up to 50°C.
Madshrimps meanwhile have a thermal paste roundup. Arctic Silver dominated the TIM (Thermal Tranfer Material) industry for many years. They may have invested more in R&D then all their competition combined. Many ask is there anything else out there? Today we hope to answer this question.
Stuart spotted some glow in the dark cats. South Korean scientists have cloned cats by manipulating a fluorescent protein gene, a procedure which could help develop treatments for human genetic diseases, officials said Wednesday. In a side-effect, the cloned cats glow in the dark when exposed to ultraviolet beams.
A different Stuart sent in info about making a cheap multi-touch whiteboard with a Wiimote: Since the Wiimote can track sources of infrared (IR) light, you can track pens that have an IR led in the tip. By pointing a wiimote at a projection screen or LCD display, you can create very low-cost interactive whiteboards or tablet displays. Since the Wiimote can track upto 4 points, multiple pens can be used. Video here.
Xbit looked at a passively-cooled 8800GT from ECS. They also seem to be covering an MSI 8600GT in there too. Today we're going to examine the most interesting 8800 GT card in the market that is made by ECS/Elitegroup. Cooled passively, it allows for an optional fan. Besides, it's factory-overclocked.
Today's timewaster comes via a forum post from Bonkers: a fun free shooter called Xyro. We attempted to create a game that was extremely simple and easy to get into, and a hell of a lot of fun. It's a game suited for more casual gamers and to have a bit of a blast with your drunken mates on a saturday night, a good alternative to the hours upon hours of grinding in wow. It's just quick fun, in and out action ;)
