Next-Gen DVD War Over?

Things continue to look grim for HD-DVD, with as yet unconfirmed reports that Toshiba is dropping production, basically surrendering in the war against Blu-Ray. Toshiba is expected to suffer losses amounting to tens of billions of yen (hundreds of millions of dollars) to scrap production of HD DVD players and recorders and other steps to exit the business, Japan's NHK said on its website. It's worth noting that, despite the huge explosion of media coverage, the official word from Toshiba has not yet been released. So this is still a rumour, altho an extremely strong one. Keep an eye on this thread for more info as it unfolds.
