TechWareLabs report on MacWorld 2008. There is a first time for everything, and this time an Apple fan got to go to the Macworld 2008 Conference and Expo in San Francisco, CA! Word from Sunny Santa Clara-based NVIDIA Corp, is that the graphics giant has moved in on an acquisition of Utah-based RayScale, a 10 year-old start-up and productization of development work from few key people at the University of Utah. RayScale currently has a product available for Autodesk Maya, dubbed LightNow.

There were also some small but annoying bugs found only after launch. A hotfix to polish things up was announced a couple of weeks ago. It took slightly longer than originally anticipated, but it's here, and offers some important changes and fixes to 3DMark Vantage.

Shacknews have an interview with Doug Lombardi from Valve about the state of PC gaming. But talking purely in terms of the Wii, the PS3, and the 360, if you added those together and looked at the whole picture, I'd bet you PC would be even, if not bigger than those three systems in terms of the money that's changing hands and the opportunity for doing business.

Greenpeace however wish that video game consoles were greener. "Whether game consoles are classified as toys or not, they can still contain hazardous chemicals and materials that could harm humans," said Dr. Kevin Brigden of the Greenpeace Science Unit. "The technology is available for the manufacturers to design out toxins and produce greener game consoles now."
