Sniper noticed this article on Flame - a robot which the creator describes as the most advanced walking robot in the world. Flame contains seven motors, an organ of balance and various algorithms which ensure its high level of stability. For instance, the robot can apply the information provided by its organ of balance to place its feet slightly further apart in order to prevent a potential fall. You can see Flame in action here.

Intel will be including SSD drives as part of their upcoming Centrino 2 platform, Montevina. Initial shipments of Intel High Performance SSDs will come in two versions – Client X25-M and Client X18-M – the former having a physical size of 2.5-inch and later 1.8-inch. Both will feature 80GB capacity and a SATA interface.

X-bit Labs have some more information on what is rumoured to be the next Xbox 360 design - Jasper. The code-named Jasper design of the Xbox 360 game console will use ATI Xenos graphics and memory controller hub (GMCH) made using 65nm process at TSMC as well as IBM Xenon central processing unit (CPU) produced at IBM’s 65nm nodes. The new system design is projected to consume less electricity, use less complex cooling systems and also produce less noise.

A 16-year-old Grade 11 student at Waterloo Collegiate Institute in Canada has found a way to make plastic bags degrade faster. At 37 degrees and optimal bacterial concentration, with a bit of sodium acetate thrown in, Burd achieved 43 per cent degradation within six weeks. The plastic he fished out then was visibly clearer and more brittle, and Burd guesses after six more weeks, it would be gone. He hasn't tried that yet.

ABC News reports on a recent survey which found that Australians with broadband spend an average of 22 hours per week on the web. The survey also revealed that online videos (whether that be feature length movies or user-generated clips) and music were the two most popular types of content on the net, with nearly half of Australian broadband users surveyed using this type of content.

A post on the ImportGenius blog details U.S. Customs records which suggest Apple will announce the 3G version of the iPhone at the World Developers Conference being held in early June. "They have never before reported this product on their customs declarations," says Ryan Petersen of ImportGenius.com. "The fact that they are importing millions of units, combined with dwindling stocks of the first generation of iPhones, clearly supports the Citi analysts predictions."
