eBay have dropped their plans to force Australians to use PayPal or COD for their auctions. "While we disagree with the ACCC’s draft notice, we have decided to withdraw the notification to stop any further confusion and disruption among the eBay community," eBay Australia vice-president Simon Smith said in a statement.

After being considered forever lost for more than 80 years, a full version of one of the first science-fiction films ever, Metropolis, has been discovered in Argentina. The original version could only be seen in Berlin until May 1927 - from then on it was considered to have been lost forever. Those recently viewing a restored version of the film first read the following insert: "More than a quarter of the film is believed to be lost forever." More info about the film on Wikipedia.

I upgraded my PS3 to the new 2.40 firmware last night, with no problems, but there's been enough complaints that Sony has recalled the upgrade. "We are aware of a limited number of consumers experiencing an issue with installing firmware 2.40 on PlayStation 3," Sony said in a statement on the official PS3 support website. "In order to further assess the issue, we have temporarily taken the firmware offline for further testing."

Guru3D have a Radeon HD 4850 and 4870 CrossfireX performance test. Much like NVIDIA's SLI offerings, AMD's ATI solution can be paired and matched as well. So pretty much today we'll place several cards together in CrossfireX mode, first the cards paired (two) and then we'll for the sake of it see if we can pair three cards CrossfireX mixed, meaning 2x 4870 and one 4850.

Xandros has acquired Linspire, thanks Setia. While Xandros didn’t mention their total employee numbers Xandros CEO Andreas Typaldos claims Xandros to be the third largest Linux company in the world after the acquisition.
