The Australian Government is apparently going to regulate efficiency in the technology sector, thanks MH. In a series of tests with newly purchased desktops and laptops, Mr Holt found some startling results: five desktops and four notebooks out 19 and 10, respectively, didn't meet the Energy Star version 3 specification, which became effective in 2000.

A few people sent in this story about a guy who plays 36 WoW characters at once. What's interesting is the PC setup he has (scroll down the page) that lets him do it.

XbitLabs checked out a few Corsair Power Supplies. We will discuss solutions targeted for different market segments and ranging from 450W up to 1kW capacity.

Here's a quite neat little mod to get a rear WiFi antenna connector into your EeePC. I noticed that there seemed to be a bit of room in the box section which comprises the left hand hinge mount base, seen below in the main picture, and the zoomed insert. Sure enough, when the LCD panel and PCB are removed after unscrewing the two hinge mount screws ( an easy job) the area available seemed to offer just enough room for my purposes.

AC/DC are apparently shunning iTunes with their latest album. AC/DC, formed by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young in 1973, is among only a handful of bands to refuse to put their music on the popular download service.

Guru3D take a look at the Philips amBX, an "ambience kit" for games that includes, wait for it, two fans for that "wind in the hair" feeling. Bizarre. Years ago we were all thrilled by a concept called Force Feedback. When you were flying a flight simulator and were pulling some negative G's the joystick would apply pressure so that it felt heavy.

SS sent in this story about black silicon. A newly discovered material called ‘black silicon’ is between 100 and 500 times more sensitive to light than conventional silicon, and could be used to revolutionize solar energy generation.

ArsTechnica have an article about some dodgy numbers about the war on piracy. These statistics are brandished like a talisman each time Congress is asked to step up enforcement to protect the ever-beleaguered U.S. content industry. And both, as far as an extended investigation by Ars Technica has been able to determine, are utterly bogus.

Today's timewaster is this eyeballing game from Tabris.
