iiNet have pulled out of internet filter trials, although it must be said they were not involved in phase one of the trial. "It became increasingly clear that the trial was not simply about restricting child pornography or other such illegal material, but a much wider range of issues including what the Government simply describes as ‘unwanted material’ without an explanation of what that includes," Mr Malone said.

The USA has adopted an interesting collective online approach to monitoring their border with Mexico. The United States has unveiled an unlikely weapon in its battle against drugs gangs and illegal immigrants at the Texas-Mexico border - pub-goers in Australia.

It seems the NRMA now have a RoadTube website. RoadTube is your avenue to let politicians and others know about what bugs you on our roads and what you want done to fix it.

Bjorn3D have some serious RAID action happening. We have RAID in every flavor that our LSI RAID controller will handle with the drives we have available (10 Seagate Savvio 15K SAS drives).

Slightly less serious is this shooting a hard drive video from Techwarelabs. Been done before, but it's been a while. TechwareLabs takes aim as resident Firearms Specialist Dan Shannon fires upon several hard drives just for fun and to see how well a hard drive would protect you from several different types of rounds.

Here's a cool video about dolphins blowing air-rings underwater. These dolphins have a lot of fun blowing bubble rings from their blowholes and popping them.

From hobo-jo: Those watching the volatile stock markets at the moment may be interested to know that we now have a monthly stock tipping competition running on the OCAU forums. The March picks have been tracking well, with an average increase of 13% over the last 3 weeks (week ending 20/03). Certainly nothing to sneeze at in today's economic climate and doubling the increase we've seen in the All Ordinaries (XAO) over the same period. One tipper managed to pick a stock (MQG) which is trading at almost a 50% increase! You can check out the current month's competition in this thread. You can register your interest and check out the details for the April competition in this thread. It's a great opportunity to learn more about the stock market while competing with your peers.

Sciby spotted this video about a guy making a 3D wooden puzzle. Making some burr puzzles with my computer controlled box joint jig. Some other interesting projects from that guy too.

JonnyGuru report on Ultra suing modular PSU makers and now vendors for intellectual property infringement. Products named in the suit include but are not limited to the Antec Truepower Quattros at 850W and 1kW, and a half dozen Thermaltake Toughpower models. Enermax, Raidmax, and Rocketfish models are also named.

Juppy has a tutorial for making a digital photo frame that looks less obvious than the off-the-shelf ones. Well, it involves modifying an off-the-shelf one. I had a friend come over a few days ago and she saw the frame on my wall for the first time and commented something along the lines of "That picture on your wall almost seems to glow." I then told her it was a digital frame and at first she didnt believe me until the image changed.
