There's some concern that the widespread Conflicker worm may do something dramatic tomorrow, or, may not. Experts have worked out that from midnight on 1 April, the Conficker program will start scanning thousands of websites for a new set of instructions telling it what to do next.

Takai spotted this half netbook half tablet on Gizmodo. The hardware I saw wasn't quite complete—the software was demoed on a prototype, and the final hardware above were just empty shells to give an idea of the design—so I cant comment too much on how well the end product performs, but I saw enough to consider this thing more than vaporware. Hrm, reminds me of this!

Gazza and Hagar sent word that action games are good for you. Far from being harmful to eyesight, as some had feared, action games such as Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, or Left 4 Dead provide excellent training for what eye doctors call contrast sensitivity, the study found.

The UK Government is considering "big brother" monitoring of social websites. Many people in Britain use social networking sites, like Facebook, MySpace and Bebo to keep in touch with their friends. The Government move follows plans to store information about every telephone call, email, and internet visit made by anyone in the UK on a central database. Uh, what? Really?

Western Digital have officially (and finally) entered the SSD race, thanks Sniper. Known for its line of Raptor and Caviar drives, Western Digital is in a good position to capitalize on SSD demand. Its VelociRaptor drive is currently the fastest consumer HDD on the market, but even it cannot stand a chance against the fastest SSDs. Now with SiliconSystems in its portfolio, Western Digital is poised to make a big impact on both SSD technology itself and its adoption rate.

Trish sent in this V8 engine made from lego. Cool project. :)

Phoronix compared some mobile-focussed Linux distros. Moblin is certainly turning into an interesting Intel creation, but how does its performance compare to other mobile-focused Linux distributions? We have benchmarked Moblin V2 Alpha 2 and compared it against what is likely their biggest competitor in the mobile space, Ubuntu Netbook Remix, and the LPIA-based Ubuntu MID edition.

LegionHW meanwhile compared ATI Radeon HD 4890 vs. Nvidia GeForce GTX 275. These new graphics cards are set to cost around $250 US, and at that price they should offer an impressive level of performance. The only question now is which delivers the best performance?

Xbitlabs looked at three GMC cases, 10 Chieftec PSUs and Radeon 4670 in CrossFireX.
