Australia's CSIRO has won a landmark wifi settlement from HP. Since the Australian science agency received a patent for its IEEE 802.11a and 802.11g Wi-Fi products in January 1996, the technology has been adopted as an industry standard by most notebooks and desktop computers around the world. Senator Conroy is under (more) fire for comments made about iiNet recently, thanks Iro. At the CommsDay telecommunications conference this week, Senator Conroy ridiculed iiNet in front of an audience of key industry figures.

Madshrimps have a video comparison of SSD vs HDD. While all those benchmark charts displaying 200+mb/s read and 150+mb/s write are impressive to see, it's also good to actually have some idea of what that extra performance brings you in real life. We prepared two identical laptops with Windows 7 and Windows XP, one had a conventional HDD, the other a brand new OCZ Vertex SSD. The result is worth checking out.
A couple of people pointed out this Conficker Eye Chart, a simple way of seeing if you are infected with the virus everyone's talking about. It's a simple idea, Conficker blocks access to anti-virus sites, so if you see missing images on that page, it might be time to worry. More info on Conficker in this thread.
