Wing Commander Andy Green may be setting records in South Australia soon, thanks Sniper. Wing Commander Andy Green, an RAF fighter pilot, wants to steer his Bloodhound SSC rocket-powered machine past the 800 mph-mark (1287 km/h) next March.
It's been a big week for video cards. Guru3D and Tweaktown have both been overclocking the ATI Radeon HD 4890. Tweaktown are also looking at ATI Radeon HD 4890 in Crossfire, while Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 SLI is examined on XbitLabs.

I'm wary of any news story dated April 1, but this is a cool article about Google's once-secret servers, thanks Brains. Google's big surprise: each server has its own 12-volt battery to supply power if there's a problem with the main source of electricity. The company also revealed for the first time that since 2005, its data centers have been composed of standard shipping containers--each with 1,160 servers and a power consumption that can reach 250 kilowatts.

Phoronix report on an open-source game called Nexuiz 2.5. This latest release of Nexuiz brings even better graphics capabilities along with a new HUD, network communication improvements that cut the bandwidth in half, smarter bots, even better graphics, and several new maps. In total more than 3,000 changes make up Nexuiz 2.5!
Intel recently released their Nehalem-based Xeon CPUs. Initial results seem to be pretty good, with coverage on iXBT, LegitReviews and Tech-Report. Intel's Nehalem-based Xeons are finally here, and they've left us gasping for air. This may well be the largest performance jump from one CPU generation to the next that we've ever seen. Idle power draw is way, way down, as well. The downside? We're still looking for one. Discussion here.
