Australia's mandatory internet filter may, err, not be mandatory. It's been a bit quiet on that front lately. The Government is currently spending around $300,000 on an industry filtering trial involving nine internet providers. The results of the trial, which are expected to inform its final policy, are expected to be handed to Senator Conroy in late July or early August. Discussion continues in this thread.
MadShrimps report on an 8GHz CPU under LN2 at a recent event. On Friday he started preparing the bench table and his setup. LegionHW chedked out VGA performance in The Sims 3. The textures are rather bland, while the shadows and lighting are quite simple. There is not even that much detail, at least until you get inside the houses. Still, we want to see how this upcoming blockbuster will perform with the latest ATI and Nvidia graphics cards.
Digitimes say that Intel are delaying the Core i5 launch until September. Intel plans to launch three Core i5 CPUs with frequencies of 2.93GHz, 2.8GHz and 2.66GHz and priced at US$562, US$284 and US$196 in thousand-unit tray quantities. All of them will feature a TDP of 95W. The P55 chipset will be priced at US$40.

There's a few improvements to Chrome on the way, including quicker browsing. Google has fixed over 300 bugs that have caused crashes since launch. In addition, the new Chrome browser uses a new version of WebKit and a new version of V8, Google’s JavaScript engine, to help make interactive web pages load even more quickly.
