Acer is jumping on the touch bandwagon. Another company producing yet more products that take advantage of Windows 7's much-vaunted touch capabilities? Amazing but true, at least according to DigiTimes, which is reporting that Acer is set to launch no less than three "touch-enabled products" loaded with Windows 7.

Google Chrome OS screenshots have apparently been sighted. A number of screenshots have since surfaced online today, claiming to offer a glimpse at what the upcoming operating system may look like. The images reveal an overall minimal interface, including a Mac OS X-style dock at the top of the screen offering easy access to a number of Google services such as Gmail, YouTube, and Google Reader.

Microsoft have asked for the Word injunction to be halted. A judge last week issued an injunction that would force Microsoft to stop selling versions of Word with a custom XML function that a jury found infringes on a patent held by Canadian software maker I4i. In its "emergency motion," made Tuesday, Microsoft asked an appeals court to halt that injunction and also to speedily hear the company's appeal, once it is filed.

IBM are one step closer to DNA based semiconductors. The latest research breakthrough from IBM was made in conjunction with the California Institute of Technology. The breakthrough uses DNA, the building blocks of the human body, as the starting point for microprocessors built at under 22nm size.

The PS3 Slim has been announced, and price drops are expected. Sony today officially announced the PS3 Slim at GamesCom. As previously reported, the PS3 Slim will retail for $299.99 when it is launched during the first week of September. Sony says that the PS3 Slim will have all the functionality of the currently available PS3 models and will be available in a single 120GB SKU.

A new study has found Twitter messages are pointless babble. Pear Analytics, based in San Antonio, Texas, said that it randomly sampled 2,000 messages from the public stream of Twitter and separated them into six categories. Pear said "pointless babble" accounted for 811 "tweets" or 40.55 per cent of the total number of messages sampled.
