Australia's defence force has a new open-source based flight simulator, thanks Paul. According to a Defence spokesman, the simulator boots in about 30 seconds and uses a cluster of 4-core Opteron 2218 servers, with nVidia Quadro FX 5600G graphics cards. The avionics and aerodynamics simulations run on a number of 8-core Opteron systems. All the nodes run Suse Linux.

HWZone report from MSI's Master Overclocking Arena. Master Overclocking Arena 2009 is underway, and we are reporting live from the Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing. An overclocking event not to be missed, stay tuned for the latest up to the minute updates as we cover all the action and more.

Tweaktown were in Beijing recently too. The news Blizzard dropped on us last week during their 4th BlizzCon from the Anaheim Convention Center was very exciting and definitely delivered the thirst for previews and fun that we all have come to expect from BlizzCon. Read on to see our recap on this years event.

HotHardware ponder NVIDIA's future with Tegra. To date, the GPU designer has spent some $600 million on Tegra development, with nary a cent in revenue to show for it just yet. Viewed strictly in the short term, it might seem that NVIDIA has mistakenly pumped a good deal of cash into a niche product at a time when it could ill afford to do so. Longer-term, however, there's good reason to think that Tegra really could grow to become a revenue pillar.

If you happen to be near Oxford, England, you could check out this Steampunk Exhibition. It is my singular honor to have been asked to curate the first museum exhibition of Steampunk design. The Museum of the History of Science is located at Oxford University in the original Ashmolean Building. This building housed the oldest museum in the western world. It was eminently appropriate that Steampunk would have it's first, bona fide museum premier at this prestigious location.
