Later tonight NASA are intending to perform the first launch for the Ares I-X, the next-generation spacecraft and launch vehicle system. Weather may be an issue, though. As of the 2 a.m. EDT weather update, today's forecast still remains at 60 percent "no-go" due to possible clouds and precipitation in the launch area. A new weather balloon was just released and weather updates will continue throughout the countdown today.

Next on the list of classic TV shows turned into a probably godawful movie is The A-Team. The film stars Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck, Liam Neeson as Col John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, Sharlto Copley as Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock, and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson as Sgt Bosco ‘B.A.’ Baracus. The film is currently in production, aiming for a June 11th 2010 release. I pity the fools.

Senator Conroy has revealed the value of Telstra, which may affect negotiations on its break-up. The Opposition's communications spokesman, Nick Minchin, says the revelations bring private discussion between Telstra and the Government out into the public domain. "I mean this is incompetence on a grand scale," he said.

Enigma spotted the first DX11 benchmark. Phoronix have more info. Unigine Heaven is using hardware tessellation, DirectCompute, Shader Model 5.0, and other newer GPU technologies. Unigine released this demo today for the launch of the Microsoft Windows 7, but there remains the OpenGL 3.x renderer too.

NGOHQ meawhile have info on some DX11 demos from AMD, mecha and ladybug. The Ladybug demo shows the results of a new approach to simulating lens-accurate depth-of-field effects based on real-world parameters of focal length and focus distance.

From IntelInside: The White House has ditched the proprietary content management system that had been in place since the days of the Bush Administration in favour of the latest version of the open-source Drupal software.
