A few people sent in this Google Blog post about Google's approach to China. We have decided we are no longer willing to continue censoring our results on Google.cn, and so over the next few weeks we will be discussing with the Chinese government the basis on which we could operate an unfiltered search engine within the law, if at all. We recognize that this may well mean having to shut down Google.cn, and potentially our offices in China. This could be quite a big deal. Discussion here.

Speaking of China, it seems that registration of .cn domains has been closed to overseas registrars. In its latest attempt to save the reputation of China's domains, the administrative agency responsible for China's Internet affairs, CNNIC, has announced an indefinite suspension all ".CN" registrations from overseas registrars.

Fudzilla have a more detailed look at EVGA dual LGA1366 board at CES, thanks Sniper. Many have been asking about the form-factor type of the 270-GT-W555 for the past few days since its official debut at CES. We tried getting answers out of Jacob and Peter, but they told us that there is currently no official ATX standard for this size board. The thing that gets me about this board is, surely it's going to be so expensive as to eliminate any savings that you'd get from not just going to a dual Xeon solution. Speaking of which, dual Xeon server boards are not (all) that huge, so why is this one? Still a cool idea, but I wonder if it'll get off the ground.

This will probably enrage the camera nazis, but I found this guide to choosing a digicam an interesting way to clear up the mess of new models out recently. To make things simple, we maintain a flow chart that helps you decide which camera to buy. Just follow the lines until you end up with a camera that fits your needs!

On the other hand, sex robots! "She can't vacuum, she can't cook but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean," TrueCompanion's Douglas Hines said. "She's a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep. We are trying to replicate a personality of a person." Discussion here.

A man in Melbourne has apparently been crushed to death by a large computer server, thanks Allen. Jeez.. not sure what to say about that, but be careful at work! I had a couple of scary moments (which will probably haunt my lower back for years to come) with our old monster BBQ server getting it into and out of the rack.

BFM sent in an interesting read on Wikipedia about an FBI espionage case. Following confirmation by the FBI CART Unit, Sullivan filed a report with Office of Professional Responsibility requesting further investigation of Hanssen's attempted penetration of the Bureau's high-security network operated by the National Security Division. Hanssen claimed he wanted to connect a color printer to his computer and needed the password cracker to get around the administrative password.

Manaz is involved with a tarmac rally team who are competing in the AASA Australian Tarmac Rally Championship. If you are in Hobart today the Ambulance Private cars are on display at Mawson Place near Constitution Dock.
