It seems there'll be no penalty for bypassing the mandatory internet filter. The office of Communications Minister Stephen Conroy this week confirmed it would not be an offence to bypass the Government's planned mandatory internet filter once it was introduced. I have not the words.
Despite the continuing economic gloom, AMD have reported another quarterly profit. By business unit, AMD’s computing solutions division - desktop, server and notebook processors saw revenue jump 23 percent from a year ago. Graphics chip revenue was up 88 percent in the first quarter from a year ago. Simply put, strong PC sales are lifting all boats. More info from the source here, discussion here.
Probably also making a profit is Blizzard, with things like fancy horses flying out the door. The fancy horse costs $25 and offers no new abilities to players, only riding as fast as a character's riding skill will enable it to go. According to wow.com, the download queue as of 1:45 Pacific time was at 80,000. At $25 a pop, this means that this noble steed has generated sales of $2 million since its approximate debut at 9:30 this morning, or around $500,000 an hour.
HotHardware have a 2TB HDD roundup posted. The vast majority of systems that use some sort of fixed drive for storage----be they desktops, workstations, or servers--still use HDDs. And when it comes to maximum storage capacity in a 3.5-inch form factor, you simply can't get any higher these days than a 2TB HDD.

Stmok sends word that the Zeus botnet is exploiting an insecure default setting in Adobe Reader. Instructions for fixing Adobe Reader are here (note you must do it for every user account on the machine). I recommended using Foxit Reader but apparently that has the same flaw, and doesn't even give a warning.
Today's timewaster is Only Connect, associated with the UK TV show of the same name. The goal is to find connections between words, and they are sometimes fiendishly difficult. I really like this one and there's 30 sets of words, so that should keep you busy..
