AMD have an interesting video (and apparently a live streaming thing starting soon) of using not just liquid nitrogen, but also 500 litres of liquid helium to push a Phenom II X4 to 6.5GHz, breaking various world overclocking records.
I guess that overshadows this recent effort, but it's still an interesing read with lots of photos. Peter "Shamino" Tan met up with Vince "k|ngp|n" Lucido in Detroit for some extreme benchmarks, here are the fruits of their labor, new world records for all levels of 3DMark Vantage!
Terry Childs, the sysadmin who was widely reported as "taking a network hostage" by refusing to disclose passwords, has been found guilty, thanks depresso. More here. Was he insubordinate? Yes. A bit of a control freak? Probably. Did he deserve a $5 million bail reserved for the most dangerous of criminals in society for not giving over passwords for 12 days? Probably not. The man has been sitting in jail for two years and could now get another three... That is a very loud message in a technology-centric city that employs a ton of technology workers in the Bay Area.
A scientific balloon launch has gone wrong in Alice Springs, destroying its payload and a nearby car. There's a video on that page.
Jonsey32 spotted this clean internet video which unfortunately is so clever I think a lot of people won't spot the sarcasm. Cleanternet is a campaign to support European Commissioner Cecilia Malmström in her plans to introduce a website blocking system in Europe. All European countries must be forced to fight for a cleaner and safer Internet.
