A few people sent word of an issue with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Bug #570765 came up earlier this week and it's bringing up the fact that when installing Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a system with another operating system present, GRUB2 will not show the other operating system once installed for the dual/multi-boot system. It doesn't matter whether the other operating system is Microsoft Windows or another Linux installation, but the GRUB2 boot-loader doesn't offer you the option to boot that OS, just Ubuntu.
Paul meanwhile sent in this post-installation guide for Ubuntu 10.04. The new version loads faster than Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, is more social, allows you to easily manage and edit your photos, videos and documents and of course has a lot of bug fixes and software updates. This Post Installation Guide of Lucid Lynx deals with the necessary and essential tools that must be loaded after the installation for a power user.
If your internet connection flakes out on May 5th, it could be because of DNSSEC, thanks Shawn. On May 5, the world's top domain authorities (led by ICANN, the US Government and Verisign) will complete the first phase of the roll-out of DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) across the 13 root servers that direct user requests to the relevant websites on the internet.
From Tzortst, a cheesy video from the 80's saying hacking is easy!
NEC have a new cooling technology. Taking a page from conventional refrigeration techniques, NEC has developed a new cooling system the company claims uses 60 percent less energy than a water cooling loop, and up to 80 percent less than an air cooling system. The description doesn't sound too different to existing heatpipe technology to me.
Asteroid noticed that there's an update to AmigaOS 4.1 available! Seems to be some newish mini Amiga motherboards and things I hadn't noticed before.. interesting.
TechRadar have videos of 10 tech demos going wrong, but they seem to have missed that some of them are fake videos. :)
Tedric sent a reminder about Zero Punctuation, in case you haven't visited there in a while or haven't heard of it. If fast-talking game review videos dripping with sarcasm are your thing, prepare for a major productivity loss.
Virgin Blue are getting into the whole Avatar thing by painting a plane and their crewmembers, and their passengers, in blue, thanks Morsolo. Virgin Blue decided to celebrate Avatar's release down under by painting an entire Boeing 737 in partial Avatar promo colours, along with painting its entire crew, staff and PASSENGERS too. All passengers on the flight were winners of a previous Avatar-related competition Virgin held; and they all got free, professional make up done to look like Na'vi... Promotion at its finest.
