If you're catching a CityRail train in Sydney today, note that you won't need a ticket, thanks d00dz. The unions have notified RailCorp there will be a 24 hour ban on ticket selling, fare collection and fare enforcement across the CityRail network on Monday 9 August. As a result, customers are being advised that using a valid ticket will not be enforced on CityRail services on Monday, however bus and ferry services still require a ticket.
Tuesday will be a big day for Microsoft patches - the biggest ever Patch Tuesday. Microsoft is planning to release 14 security bulletins Aug. 10 for Patch Tuesday—the company's highest total ever. The bulletins will cover 34 vulnerabilities across multiple products, including Windows, Internet Explorer, Silverlight and Microsoft Office.

Speaking of which, there's a try before you buy feature in the App Store now. Sounds like it just collects demos and "lite" versions together rather than being a proper timed trial of the full app.
Gizmodo have a video from EFA showing five ways to defeat the filter in under two minutes. We object to the Government’s plan to censor the internet for a variety of reasons – it won’t help parents, it won’t help police, it’s secretive, it costs a lot of money. Perhaps these points are debatable, but one isn’t – experts agree, anybody who wants to will be able to get around the censorwall, easily, on day one.
YouTube have quite a clever trailer for the Expendables movie. Looks like they're trotting out all the classic action stars for this one. :)
RamblingThoughts checked out FetchTV. Many Australians who get broadband internet access through Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like Internode and iiNet will be watching Pay TV channels as well as Video on Demand movies and TV shows via their broadband internet connection within the next few months.
