AMD have announced they will be officially killing off the ATi brand, replacing it with AMD branding. Info on Tech Report, Anandtech and PC Perspective. Furthermore, AMD tells us it feels confident in making this change right now because its graphics business is "on a roll," having surpassed rival Nvidia in discrete graphics shipments last quarter, according to analyst estimates, and having secured high-profile design wins with the likes of Apple. XbitLabs have a few comparisons, with GeForce GTX 460 SLI vs. Radeon HD 5970 in the video card arena, and Thermalright Silver Arrow vs. Noctua NH-D14 and Thermalright HR-02 vs. Noctua NH-D14 on the cooling side of things.
