Bad weekend to be a cooling fan - the PSU fan in my GF's PC and the videocard fan in my main machine died within hours of each other. Easy fixed. Still looking at alternate email clients.. I've been using FoxMail for a week but have decided it's not for me. Pegasus looks good, but it complains about my printer all the time and I can't seem to type into the body of any messages.. :) I'll keep playing with it.

People keep emailing in links to online stores and scans of ads in newspapers etc, where a mysterious 3.06GHz P4 is available - or at least, where pricing is listed for it. Given that the 2.8GHz parts have only just arrived here, I really think that's just wishful thinking or somewhat dubious marketing by the vendors. I imagine a distributor has put it on their pricelist and the vendors are just listing the pricing without actually having any stock or checking availability. Unless of course, someone wants to send me a 3.06GHz non-overclocked P4 chip to review, in which case I'll send you back a picture of me printing out this newspost and eating it. :)

Rogue spotted a new BOFH episode on TheReg.

A few people sent this in.. just the thing for ducking down to the shops with Old Ben.. thanks happygilmore.

Wokket, infamous for sending in oodles of oddball links for our news page, has a rant about Java on his own page. He invites feedback in this thread.

There's some BETA VIA 4-in-1 drivers out.. version 4.33, thanks Martin. UPDATE: These are really old, so don't install them. No idea why they were sent in as news.

Accelenation checked out the Electronics & Computer Trade Show that was on recently.

Digit-Life compared the P4 2.8GHz and AthlonXP 2600+, current CPU kings. Our XP2600+ review is here, of course.

A bit more info about video games being banned in greece, thanks MiGiSHu. Lauhead spotted more info and stuff to do about it here on OC.com.

Funny personal schedule site from leperMessiah.

There's a LAN in Sydney in a couple of weeks here.

From Spingo: The Powerhouse Museum will present one of the most popular exhibitions of all time, Star Wars: The Magic of Myth. As the Powerhouse is the only venue in Australia, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see original artwork, props, models and characters used to create the Star Wars trilogy - Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983) as well as models, costumes and drawings from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999). The exhibition, which has toured in the USA until now, will display more objects than any other venue, including more than 25 objects from Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002), the latest film in the Star Wars saga. The Magic of Myth explores the archetypal themes and motifs from classical mythology and world culture that are contained within the trilogy. Exhibit runs from September 18 to February 2. Cost is $18 for adults, $9 for children, $45 for family and $8 for seniors. Info here.
