From eluial: Some guys are makng a mod of the original Quake source to include stencil shadows and per pixel lights. From the site: "Stencil shadows allow for realistic shadow effects on every object in the game world. Per pixel lighting allows you to have fine surface details correctly lit. These are essentially the same algorithms as used by the new Doom game." Aw baby!

Security woes continue for Microsoft.. from Eluial: The senior vice president in charge of Microsoft's Windows development team, Brian Valentine, is not proud with Windows' security: "I'm not proud,... we really haven't done everything we could to protect our customers ... Our products just aren't engineered for security." Microsoft have no idea as to why their products are so vulnerable. Their latest problem is applicable to all Windows' from 98 onwards. Coupla interesting things on Wired.. Palm having to fork over refunds for disgruntled Palm purchasers and this Australian solar-power tower, if built, will be twice as tall as the current tallest man-made structure on Earth. Sounds like a load of hot air to me!
