First off, don't forget about our Gigabyte 'Sandy Bridge' motherboard competition! Go check it out!

CES 2011 is starting up all the way over in Las Vegas, so there'll be plenty of snippets on upcoming gadgets and computer gear, but one of the first stories was of a vendor who was displaying their new iPad 2 case with a mockup iPad 2 in it. I can't imagine that Apple will be too happy about that, considering they're still trying to hold some secrecy before their product launches. The iPad 2 is rumoured to be released this month.

Funnily enough, Apple used to be ridiculously tight on their security for upcoming products, but Mac Rumors has listed the leaks for Apple gear in 2010. Maybe Apple aren't really that worried anymore?

As a teaser of CES 2011 goodness, Asus have announced FOUR tablet computers. Clearly tablet computing is going to be the Next Big Thing, and about time too. Of course, more talk about CES can be found in our forums here.

Mind you, we'll still have a use for big desktops full of fast gear, and Samsung have announced that they've developed "industry's first DDR4 DRAM, using 30nm class technology".

Of course, you need motherboards to plug memory sticks into, like AMD's new Zacate mini-ITX motherboards, which are based around AMD's Fusion APUs. Discussion here.

VIA have finally announced their new Nano X2 processors: VIA Nano X2 processors are the first truly optimized, low power dual-core processors. Combining two 64-bit ‘Isaiah’ cores in one die, VIA Nano X2 processors deliver industry leading performance-per-watt and improved multi-tasking ability, without consuming more power. Again, there's discussion about it on our forums here.

Moving on to gaming and Rock Paper-Shotgun have looked at Precursor, an FPS/RPG sci-fi game that's been ported to the west from Russia. "Precursors is an absurdly ambitious project undertaken by a team that didn’t really have a hope of pulling it off. Except they kind of did. It’s clunky and quirky and unpolished, and that doesn’t really matter."

Finally, for something that 99.99% of us can't afford, Top Gear took a Koenigsegg Agera to a Chinese air base. "I press the accelerator hard and have a demi-second to register one clear, naive thought. "910bhp? This doesn't feel like 910bhp. What the hell was all th--" Then the V8 grabs 3,000rpm and the twin turbos fire, and the Agera takes off like a fighter jet on full afterburner." Now I wish I'd asked for one for Christmas. Bugger.
