I built a P4 testbed here yesterday - it's time I had a more powerful machine than the AthlonXP 1600+'s I've been using for the last few months and a P4 setup will let me test other P4 bits. The CPU is a P4 2.0A 400MHz-FSB unit that runs at 533MHz-FSB (2.66GHz) at default voltage and, on an impulse, I picked up Gigabyte's SiS648 board - the GA-8SG667. When I bought this board there were no reviews of it around, but there's been a few SiS648 reviews and the chipset certainly looks promising. After I'd finished building the testbed I noticed AnandTech have posted a review of this motherboard yesterday. Shanib pointed out a couple of reviews of Asus's P4S8X, their SiS648 offering here and here. Still waiting for a more mature BIOS for the Gigabyte board, as the current one is woefully short of voltage and memory timing tweaks, but otherwise the board looks like a good 'un. Will I review it? Maybe.. one of the joys of buying hardware is that I don't have to review it. :)

AnandTech also have an article on the Quad Band Memory technology that was announced yesterday.

LetsGoDigital went to Cebit Bilisim.. a big PC show in Turkey.

thetron noticed that Channel 9 have dropped F1 coverage.. hopefully Channel 10 will pick it up, they seem to do a pretty good job of covering the bike racing (apart from giving the results away before the race in Sports Tonight, grr!)

Our RC5 Team has jumped up a spot, thanks Skit.

Firemoth noticed a few ways to spend a billion dollars.

AMDWorld compared the Intel P4 2.4GHz and AMD AthlonXP 2200+ CPU's. For more comparisons, in my XP2600+ review I compare it to a 2.53GHz P4.

DWPG have an article about socketA SMP on the (relatively) cheap.
