Microsoft have given the world a glipse of Windows 8, particularly the new user interface. Coverage on ArsTechnica, All Things D, VR-Zone and PCAuthority, thanks JD. The first thing you notice is the desktop of tiny icons PC users have been familiar with for decades, has been replaced by big, blocky "tiles", as Microsoft calls them. The idea is you'll be able to see information at a glance, without having to open up your email client, or calendar.

Martin sends word that there's a CoD: Black Ops free weekend this weekend. Presumably this applies to Aussies as well? Pre-load the game now and be ready to play when the free weekend starts on Thursday, June 2nd at 10am Pacific Time. The Free Weekend of Call of DutyŽ: Black Ops will let you play the entire multiplayer portion of the base game.
