Yesterday was OCAU's 12th birthday. So I guess it'll be getting all pimply and its voice will be breaking soon. :)

New Zealand ISPs have won the right to charge $25 for a copyright infringement notice sent to their customers. Note that the charge is against the claiming rights holder, to discourage sending thousands of claims at a time. Minister of Commerce Simon Power said the fee was a cost-effective option available to rights holders, compared to enforcing copyright through the courts. He also said the fee was at a level that prevented rights holders from inundating ISPs with alleged copyright infringement notices, as has taken place in countries that have introduced similar regimes.

LegitReviews checked out different memory speeds on Llano. When we did our launch article on the A8-3850 we ran 1866Mhz memory, but since this platform is very budget friendly we know our readers also want to see performance numbers at 1333MHz and 1600MHz. Read on to see how 'Llano' performs at three different memory clock speeds and also with 16GB of memory in a 4x4GB configuration!

Apple have dropped their Australian app pricing, reflecting the strong dollar. Apple users shopping on Australia's iPhone and iPad App Stores are set to feel the benefits of a better exchange rate against the greenback as Apple revises almost all of its local app prices down. Discussion here.

Meanwhile the rumour mill is pondering an Australian arm of Amazon, or maybe they just want to host our businesses. Amazon never made it to Australia in its earlier international expansion phase, and with Australia being a strong western economy, it would seem to make sense for the company to bring its brand of online retail and services to Australia in a directly local fashion, including a local Australian data centre.

PC Perspective have an idiot's guide to EyeFinity. While Eyefinity is certainly not perfect, and we have yet to see wide support for the technology, it is improving month by month. Not every game will take advantage of the technology, and certainly in the case of PANTONE, they have not provided updates to address the limitations of their product in Eyefinity.

Wired report on a cool Minority Report-like interface for a space game, using multiple giant touchscreens. Because of the screen’s sheer size, any number of players can jump in and start moving ships around, Nishimoto said, limited only by how many people can cram themselves around the 20-foot-wide display.

XbitLabs checked out some SATA-600 SSDs. This year we welcomed the next generation of solid state drives, which major distinguishing feature was SATA 6 Gbps interface support. No wonder, since the old 3 Gbps interface limited the potential of the new SSDs. But which SSD to choose? To answer this question we gathered together and tested popular SSDs with SATA 6 Gbps support from Crucial, Intel and OCZ Technology.

Today's timewaster is LabScape, from TonyL.
