Google Street View is now high resolution in Australia. Today we're excited to announce that updated Street View imagery of Australian towns and cities is live in Google Maps. Places around Australia are now available in higher quality to help you plan your visits and show off your favourite places to friends. We plan to recommence our driving operations in Australia later this year, collecting new imagery from across Australia. Discussion here.
An alleged Australian hacker has been charged with attacking Australian businesses. David Cecil, an unemployed truck driver, who allegedly gave himself the online nickname Evil, has been charged with the nation's biggest hacking attack, police say. In Orange Local Court on Wednesday, it was alleged the 25-year-old Cowra man had control of Platform Networks' entire system for six weeks. More info here and discussion here.
Meanwhile Scotland Yard believe they have nabbed Topiary, the LulzSec spokesman. The police news release doesn’t name the suspect. The bust is the second high-profile arrest of an alleged member of the six-man hacking gang. British police last week arrested a 16-year-old they say is “T-Flow” — another prominent member. In June they arrested 19-year-old Ryan Cleary of Wickford, Essex, who allegedly ran an IRC channel used by the group. More here.

Google+ keeps itself in the headlines, with Google apparently trying to smooth ruffled feathers after a recent spate of account suspensions. Google has heard the public outcry about its name restrictions and the way it killed off many Google+ user accounts, and it's working fast to fix the problem. Many Google+ users have been up in arms over the past few days, since the new social networking site cranked up its efforts to delete the accounts of people who weren't using their real names.
Chinese physicists have proven time travel impossible, thanks Shooter. I think at one point we proved you'd die if you went faster than the speed of sound, too. In a published study, Shengwang Du and his team of physicists at the Hong Kong University of Technology and Science stated that single photons can't travel faster than the speed of light. By result, the possibilities of time traveling have been debunked in one fell swoop because it was previously believed that if a single photon could travel faster than the speed of light, it could "teleport" information to another time.
Also on the science front, AB sent word of an asteroid sharing our orbit. Astronomers have discovered the first Trojan asteroid sharing Earth's orbit around the Sun. Trojans are asteroids locked in stable orbits by a gravitational balancing act between a planet and the Sun.
PC Perspective checked out the steady video technology in AMD's new APUs. Steady Video, as we described it in our initial AMD Llano A8-3850 review is: Using a heterogeneous computing model AMD's driver will have the ability to stabilize "bouncy" video that is usually associated with consumer cameras and unsteady hands.
A few people sent word of another Humble Indie Bundle, where you get a handful of games and you decide how much to pay for it, and how much of your payment goes to charity. All games in the Humble Indie Bundle work natively on Linux Mac OS X, and Windows.
