The ethernet switch that runs my house LAN died on Friday night, so today I wandered down to the computer markets at North Rocks (Sydney) to pick up a replacement. Haven't been there in a couple of years but it seems much the same. Picked up an 8-port 10/100 switch for $60.. bargain! I noticed a lot of Compaq Deskpro EN and EP models there, presumably from a corporate auction.. P2-400's with 128mb of ram, HDD, CDROM etc.. for only $200 or so (no monitor). Perfect for a low-grunt machine, though.

TheHardWire have an article comparing PC's and consoles.. looks like a flamewar waiting to happen.
