Dosfix 3
02-Feb-2002 - by Simon Wells

Hello and welcome to the third version of the Dosfix program. This program provides real-mode DOS support for WindowsME. We have totally re-written the code for v3 to make it a bit easier to use. With the help of Francis Rounds, we have created a few new features. One is the new GUI interface (Thanks Francis) - this makes the installation and use of Dosfix3 very easy indeed.

For general information and previous versions click here, but we recommend using the new version 3 from this page.

Below are a few screen shots of the new interface including the custom boot menu that gives you the option of starting either Dos 8 or Windows ME .

The first screen you will see when installing is the welcome screen .....

Now the options screen , this is where you can choose from the 4 options offered to you:

After the installation is complete you will have a new boot menu screen that looks like this:

If you are running Windows ME and need Real Mode Dos for any reason, then Dosfix3 is for you. Please understand that some things are not supported by Dos8. These things are like Printing from Dos etc, this is not a limitation of Dosfix but these options have been removed by Microsoft. If you need this functionality then I recommend that you create a dual boot system with Dos 6.22 instead.

Download Dosfix 3 here.

Remember: Be aware that Dosfix changes some critical system files, so there's always the chance of something horrible happening. Back up your important data first. Neither Simon or OCAU will accept responsibility in the event of Dosfix causing a problem with your PC.
